3M 70 & 3M 70HDT Self Fusing Silicone Rubber Electrical Tape meeting MIL Specification

FlameShieldä 3M 70 & 3M 70HDT equivalent self-fusing self-amalgamating silicone rubber electrical tapes are used as an overwrap for protection of terminating high-voltages cables against arcing and tracking failures. Cables with the following composition should be overwrapped: Butyl Rubber, Oil-based rubber, Ethylene Propylene rubber, PVC, low and high density polyethylene.
T-SR-3M70 is a .012" thick rectangular tape and T-SR-3M70HDT is a .020" thick triangular profile tape with guideline. Both have an interleave PET backing film that is easily removed while installing the tape.
Both tapes meet MIL and commercial specification are used for a variety of critical electrical wiring and cable splicing and protection jobs. Especially suited for aviation and marine environments, as well as outdoor weathering environments.
The tape has no adhesive, but sticks to itself (self-fuses or self-amalgamating) when stretched and wrapped onto itself. The tapes starts curing within minutes, and after several hours cannot be unwound or removed without using a sharp knife or blade. This tape makes a waterproof, weatherproof and air tight protection.
These tapes are a blue-gray color. The triangular tape has a guideline stripe in the center which aids in achieving a 50% spiral wrap. Triangular tapes provide a smooth surface on spiral wrapping, preventing the tape wrap area from snagging when pulling a wire or cable through a bundle or over objects or openings.
This tape is also used to wrap hydraulic connections and to make vibration resistant bumpers and spacers for wiring, cable, hose, pipes and lines. This tape is used to wrap and hold insulation in place on hot air ducts. Makes an in-situ bushing for protecting wiring at the backshell clamp.
This tape meets 14 CFR 25.853(a) at amendment 25-116; Appendix F, Part I(a)(1)(i) (60 Second Vertical Flammability Test).
